Description

Confirmed figures for L00331

L00331 is the longest leash we build for stand-up paddleboards: 12 ft (3.66 m) of 9 mm TPU cord on a padded knee cuff. It is sized for 12 ft touring boards, 14 ft race boards and the larger inflatables, where the tail sits a long way from the paddler and a shorter line comes up tight before the board has drifted clear. Nine millimetres is the thickest cord in the SUP line, so it keeps its shape behind a heavy board instead of folding back under the rail. The cuff closes on the upper calf rather than at the ankle, which is what most paddlers want from a SUP knee leash on a deck this long.

Cuff, cord and board-end fittings

  • Padded knee cuff: a broad panel with a soft lining spreads the pull across the upper calf, and the hook-and-loop strap takes up over a wetsuit leg or closes down on a bare calf.
  • 9 mm TPU cord: the thickest cord in the line, it resists kinking when the board spins in white water and takes longer to develop the flat spots that end a thinner cord's working life.
  • Rail saver: webbing that spreads the load across a wider patch of rail so a hard pull cannot saw into the board's edge; on a fleet leash it is usually the first part to show wear.
  • Leash string, supplied fitted: the deliberate weak link, economical and quick to replace, and it protects the rail saver and the plug.
  • Stainless swivels at both ends: the cord unwinds instead of loading up with twist over a long paddle. Turn them under a firm pull on the sample you approve.
  • Part of a wholesale SUP leash line that runs from 8 ft to 12 ft, so the knee slot and the ankle models ship as one programme.

Long boards and open water

Length is the deciding factor, so match the leash to the board rather than to the rider. A 12 ft touring board, a 14 ft race board or a large inflatable with a stainless D-ring at the tail all put enough water between paddler and board for a 12ft SUP leash to do its job. On a 9 ft or 10 ft board most of that line ends up lying on the deck, where a foot can find it during a turn, and the 10 ft 8 mm knee model is the cleaner pairing at that end of the rack. Shops building a leash wall usually run this model as the long-board anchor beside the 10 ft knee and the SUP ankle leashes. Rental fleets use it because one knee model covers every big board in the rack, while the strap adjusts from a winter wetsuit to a bare calf at handover.

Keeping it in service

  1. Rinse the cuff, cord and swivels in fresh water after a salt-water session, then hang the leash loose in shade instead of leaving it coiled damp in a board bag.
  2. Store it in a loose coil. A tight wrap around the rail puts a set in the cord that comes back as a kink the next time it takes a load.
  3. Run the full length through your hands before you launch and look for nicks, flat spots or a stiff section near a swivel.
  4. Check that the hook-and-loop strap still holds tension; once it creeps open under load, the cuff has reached the end of its life.
  5. Replace the leash string at the first sign of fraying — it is there to be the weak link, and a fresh string costs far less than a rail repair.
  6. Retire the leash when the cord is cut deep enough to catch a fingernail, or when the webbing at the cuff starts to pull away from the padding.
  7. On a rental board, inspect a stand up paddle leash at every handover. Fleet leashes fail from wear nobody noticed, not from age.

What a repeat order should match

  • Quote the model, not the description. Several 12 ft knee codes sit close together in the SUP line, so put L00331 on the order.
  • Confirm the trim before production: cord colour, cuff colour and any branding on the cuff or the header card.
  • Add spare leash strings if you supply rental fleets, so a worn string does not take a whole leash out of service.
  • Approved samples stay on file, and as a SUP leash manufacturer we match reorders against the piece you signed off rather than a description.
  • Build the mix across lengths: most wholesale SUP leash orders run 8 ft, 10 ft and 12 ft models, so the wall answers more board sizes than one length in depth.
  • OEM and private-label work is handled on this length as on the rest of the range — trim, colourways and branding are adapted to your programme and agreed at sample stage.

Scale & Supply Capability

CIMI is a factory-based supplier with 16 years in surf and watersports hardgoods, manufacturing at our own facility rather than sourcing through traders. Chain stores, supermarkets and surf-brand stores buy from us because one supplier covers a full accessory assortment, so a season's order and its reorders can be planned together. We take on OEM and private-label work, adapting designs, colourways and branding to your programme, and we schedule production against your agreed range plan. Send us your buy list and target dates, and we will confirm what we can make and when.

FAQ

Where does the knee cuff sit, and how tight should it be?

On the upper calf, just below the kneecap — higher than an ankle cuff, which is the whole point of a SUP knee leash on a long deck. Close it snug enough that it cannot rotate around your leg, then check it again at the water's edge, because webbing and padding both give a little once they are soaked. If the cuff spins freely, it is too loose.

Can I use the 12 ft leash on a 10 ft board?

Twelve feet of line is intended for 12 ft and longer boards. On a 10 ft board a stand up paddle leash this long leaves the surplus cord lying on the deck, where it can catch a foot when you step back to turn. The 10 ft 8 mm knee model keeps the same cuff style with less line in the water and is the better pairing for mid-size boards.

What is fitted at each end?

This 12ft SUP leash arrives with a rail saver and a leash string already fitted at the board end, and stainless steel swivels at both ends so the cord can unwind instead of loading up with twist. The build we photograph is a red cord with a black cuff and rail saver, and the string is a standard part of the SUP line, so a replacement string fits the same way.

How should I store it between sessions?

Rinse off salt and sand, hang it loose in shade to dry, and coil it loosely for storage. A tight wrap around the rail or a damp board bag puts a set in the cord that shows up as a kink the next time the leash takes a load, and sun is what ages the cord and stitching fastest.

Can we order it in our own colours and branding?

Yes. CIMI is a SUP leash manufacturer with its own factory, and OEM and private-label work is part of what we do. Cord colour, cuff colour and any branding on the cuff or header card are adapted to your programme and agreed at sample stage, before production starts.
